Community Record
A Record of Service
Military. Public Safety. Community. A lifetime of showing up when it matters most.
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Louis Mirabelli's record is not a list of titles — it is a record of service. From military and overseas deployments to firefighting and emergency response across the United States, including Alaska, from pandemic response to community grant work, Louis has spent his career showing up for people in their most difficult moments.
As a firefighter-paramedic whose duties have included wildland firefighting since 2003, Louis understands firsthand the importance of responsible land management, wildland fire mitigation, and the growing threat of the wildland-urban interface — the line where our communities meet the fire. Below is a summary of his military service, public safety career, awards and recognitions, and community work — the foundation of who he is and what he stands for.

Public Safety Career
Over 20 Years as a Firefighter-Paramedic
Wildland Firefighting — Part of the Career Since 2003
Land, Water & the Wildland-Urban Interface
Wildland firefighting has been a core part of Louis's career as a firefighter-paramedic since 2003 — giving him over two decades of direct experience with fire behavior, land management, and the growing threat of the wildland-urban interface. He understands what it means when fire pushes toward our neighborhoods, our homes, and our communities. That experience is not academic — it is earned on the line, in the smoke, across the forests and landscapes of the United States, including Alaska. Louis truly believes that land and water are among our most precious gifts. He believes deeply in being good stewards of the land — protecting and preserving these natural resources so that our children and grandchildren inherit the same White Mountains we love today. As someone who hunts, fishes, and spends time in the outdoors, Louis knows firsthand what makes this place special. He is committed to protecting the natural resources that make the White Mountains worth fighting for — and he knows that responsible land management and proactive wildland fire mitigation are not political talking points. They are life-and-death priorities for every family, every community, and every generation that calls this place home.
Sikorsky Rescue Award
Live Hoist Rescue — Active Wildland Fire
Louis was awarded the prestigious Sikorsky Rescue Award for performing a live hoist rescue in the middle of an active wildland fire in California — one of the most dangerous rescue operations a flight paramedic can undertake. His career has taken him across the United States, including Alaska, responding to some of the most demanding fire and rescue operations in the country. This award is among the highest recognitions in aviation rescue.
Life-Saving Medal
Actions Resulting in the Saving of a Life
Louis was awarded the Life-Saving Medal as a firefighter for actions that directly resulted in saving a life while putting himself at risk — a recognition of extraordinary courage and commitment to the people he serves.
Veterans of Foreign Wars
VFW Firefighter of the Year
Louis was recognized by the Veterans of Foreign Wars as Firefighter of the Year — an honor that reflects both his professional excellence and his deep commitment to the communities he protects.
Community Work
Building Stronger, Safer Communities
Emergency Preparedness
AED Grant Initiative — Navajo & Apache Counties
Louis is actively working with local agencies to secure grant funding to place Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) on every law enforcement vehicle in Navajo and Apache counties. This initiative would put life-saving cardiac response equipment in the hands of first responders across the region, dramatically improving survival rates for cardiac emergencies in rural communities where response times can be long.
Emergency Response
Strengthening Local Emergency Response
Louis has worked alongside local agencies to strengthen emergency response capabilities across the White Mountains — building relationships, identifying gaps, and laying the groundwork for better coordination between fire, EMS, and law enforcement when lives are on the line.
Community Building
Shop with a Firefighter & Fallen Officer Charities
Louis has participated in Shop with a Firefighter, supported charities honoring fallen law enforcement officers, and partnered with local schools and colleges to provide scholarships for aspiring students — because strong communities are built by people willing to put others before themselves.
Federal Advocacy
Washington D.C. Advocacy — White Mountain Firefighters Association
Through his work with the White Mountain Firefighters Association, Louis has traveled to Washington, D.C., to advocate for issues affecting rural Arizona communities at the federal level — ensuring the voices of Pinetop-Lakeside and the White Mountain Apache communities are heard where decisions are made.
The Man Behind the Record
Your Neighbor. Not a Career Politician.
Like so many first responders, Louis has felt the weight of what this work carries. Traumatic stress is real, and it does not discriminate. He knows what it means to carry those moments home — and because of that, he has deep empathy for anyone who is struggling, in crisis, or simply having the worst day of their life.
Louis is not a perfect man, and he has never claimed to be. We are all human. We all make mistakes. What sets Louis apart is not that he is above the struggles of ordinary life — it is that he shows up anyway. Every time.
He is not a career politician. He is your next-door neighbor. He is the one you call when everything goes wrong — and he answers. For over 20 years as a firefighter-paramedic, that has been his purpose: to serve, to protect, and to be there for his community in its darkest moments.
That is who Louis Mirabelli is. And that is exactly who he will be for the people of Pinetop-Lakeside and the White Mountain Apache communities.
"I'm willing to lay down my life for a stranger. Imagine what I'm willing to do for my friends and neighbors."
— Louis Mirabelli
This Is Who Louis Is
Louis Mirabelli is not a career politician. He is a public servant — and there is a difference. His record was not built in a boardroom or a campaign office. It was built in the air, on the ground, and across the United States, including Alaska — in the communities he has dedicated his life to serving.
He is dedicated to Pinetop-Lakeside and the White Mountain Apache communities — and that dedication is backed by a lifetime of action.
